Despite having his house attacked with cars and other properties destroyed, all is set for the inauguration of the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, now governor-elect in Bayelsa.

Douye Diri, who was declared winner of the governorship election held few months ago by the Supreme Court of Nigeria was in Abuja alongside his deputy when his home was attacked by irate protesters who vented their spleen on him.

The Independent National Electoral Commission had earlier in the day held a press briefing where its National Chairman, Mahmoud Yakubu held that the Commission would obey the decision of the apex court  by issuing Diri Certificate of return.

Diri and his deputy were issued their certificates of return while they moved to Bayelsa to be inaugurated.

He was told of attacks on his home by protesters, on Imgbi Road, Amarata, Yenagoa, the state capital but Daily Mail gathers he has returned to the state where he’s being prepared for inauguration without passing his his home.

During the attack, they vandalised some vehicles in his compound and damaged parts of the building.

The attack came a few hours after the Independent National Electoral Commission issued a Certificate of Return to Diri reports say.

Daily Mail gathered the inauguration would be skeletal without much fanfare as would have been expected.
