Again, gunmen have reportedly kidnapped some passengers including four officers of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps on Itobe-Ajegu road in Kogi.

The area is a hotbed for kidnappers who always kidnap their victims in numbers.

Fulani herdsmen regarded as one of the most dangerous groups in the world have been reported to have operated freely in that area. They recently attacked a school in Edo State situated contiguously with Kogi State and kidnapped a female teacher who ended up paying almost two million naira.

Latest kidnapping eyewitnesses say bore the hallmark of the herdsmen. They created self buffer zone in the form of a check point and wore military camouflage, halting vehicle conveying the victims.

No sooner had they stopped than they were attacked and kidnapped.

No ransom has been placed, a usual practice in which kidnappers allow some hours to pass before using victim’s phone to reach relatives.

The police are yet to confirm the incidence.
