Former Governor of Ekiti State and current Deputy National Chairman South of the All Progressives Congress, APC, is set to assume office until the determination of the suit suspending the party’s National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.
A member of the National Working Committee, NWC, of the party confirmed to Daily Mail on telephone that, the constitution of the party will be respected and Oni is next in line to take over in acting capacity.
He said it has been discussed and agreed and that “that will happen unless something dramatic happens, which I don’t see coming.”
Oshiomhole was suspended on Wednesday from office and the case comes up on the 8th and 9th of March, 2020.
This was as the party said it will respect court decision on its national chairman.
Speaking to journalists at the party’s National Headquarters in Abuja Wednesday evening, the Acting National Secretary of the party, Victor Giadom, said as a law-abiding political party, the decision of the court will be respected.
Dozens of police patrol vans with armed policemen are keeping vigil around the Party’s secretariat.Daily Mail confirmed that Oshiomhole did not return to the office again as a source said he is holding multiple consultative meetings at his residence in Asokoro, Abuja.The party’s constitution provides that at the removal or suspension from office, an appointment to the office must be occupied by the senior officer from that zone.
The other Deputy National Chairman is from the North. He is Lawal Shuaibu.
Meanwhile, Oni, Daily Mail learnt has been detailed to assume office on Thursday barring last minutes manoeuvring.
