Smarting from several meetings he held with close associates deep into the night following his surprise suspension, Mr Adams Oshiomhole said no one can remove him as the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to him, he remains the party’s National Chairman despite the order of an Abuja Federal High Court early Wednesday that suspended him from office.
The police with dozens of patrol vans and heavily armed men took strategic positions around the party’s National secretariat as Oshiomhole who collapsed was prevented from seeing President Muhammadu Buhari ordered that his office be quickly locked.
Reacting to the development, the Chief Press Secretary to the embattled chairman Simon Ebegbulem said Oshiomhole remains the Chairman because APC’s lawyers had filed for a stay of execution of the judgment ordering his removal from office.
This contradicted earlier party’s decision that the court’s decision would be obeyed.
But Ebegbulem said,“Our legal department is studying the matter and we have filed for a stay of execution and appealed the ruling.
“With those processes, Oshiomhole remains the National Chairman of the party,” Ebegbulem said.
