Dere councillor launches free computer training for JAMB
The councillor representing Ward 4 B-Dere, in the Gokana Legislative Assembly, Hon Barivule Kabari today Flagged off the free CBT Training for JAMB 2020 students in the Dere communities comprising of Ward 4 B-Dere, Ward 5 and Ward 6 of K-Dere in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The Councillor while addressing the students at the kick off the week long program (March 9th – March 14th) which will be holding at B-Dere Secondary School and K-Dere ICT center, Gokana says this event is part of the activities of her office to see that Children of her constituency and those of K-Dere embrace education and aspire to be better in life.
“I am organizing this program so that, you all can conveniently write your Jamb exams and pass. The difficulty most of our students always experience in this CBT jamb exam is as a result of not knowing how to answer questions using a computer, and I know that after this training you would become conversant with the computer and pass with flying colours.
“Education is still the way to having a bright future, and don’t allow anybody deceive you to embrace cultism and criminality and forget about furthering your education.
“I know how expensive it is for your parents to pay for this training for you, that’s why I decided to take it up and put this program together to provide succour for them.
“I promise to hold this type of programs frequently, to improve education in Dere community.
Tina Barizoge who spoke on behalf of the students, expressed her gratitude to the councillor for putting together this program.
She said she and her fellow students have learnt the basics of how to operate a computer and answer CBT questions, and that tomorrow (Day 2), would see them learn more and prepare well for their Jamb exam.
The Honorable councillor was accompanied by community youth leaders to the Flagg-off of the program.
