Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has joined the pro-Sanusi group when, he visited the deposed Emir on Friday, in Awe, Nasarawa State.

El-Rufai earlier given a hint in a Facebook post, on Friday, accompanied by a picture in his car that he would be meeting the dethroned Emir of Kano, Lamido Sanusi.

The governor has been a friend of the emir for decades reports say.

He appointed Sanusi as the Pro-chancellor of the Kaduna State University and also made him the Vice-Chairman of the state’s investment board few days after Sanusi was dethroned.

The governor was among those who went to receive Sanusi in 2014 when the latter was suspended as the Central Bank Governor by former President Goodluck Jonathan, Punch reported.
With El-Rufai’s visits, there are contentions that he has broken rank with the presidency and some powerful members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, including the Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje in their stance on Sanusi.
A source say the visit will not go down well with the presidency, who, even though said, President Muhammadu Buhari had no hands in Sanusi’s ordeal but is believed to have given consent before Ganduje dethroned Sanusi.
