Imo Governor lavishes State judges with 20 luxurious cars
Imo State governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, has lavished twenty brand new luxurious Vehicles on judges in his state.
Uzodinma that has not shaken off huge controversy surrounding his ascension as the governor on the back of bizarre supreme court’s ruling has been spending big in judges and lawmakers in the state.
Few weeks after being sworn in, he procured almost almost all of the opposition lawmakers with N10 million each and prized parcel of lands in highbrow areas of the state and Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
The vehicles were received by the acting Chief Judge of the state, Hon. Justice Ijeoma Agugua during a courtesy visit by judges to the governor, where they pledged their loyalty to the controversial Governor.
The governor asked the judicial arm of government to join forces with the other arms, the executive and legislature, to move the state forward, reports from the meeting say.
Uzodinma said the dividends of democracy can only be delivered to people when all the arms of government close ranks and work as a team.
Uzodimma said the gifts of 20 brand new Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) to the serving judges was a way of motivating them to work with him, promising to improve the welfare and working condition of the judges.
The governor also offered to take care of the outstanding entitlements of the retired judges and ensure that other retiring ones get their entitlements less than two months after retirement.
The Acting Chief Judge of Imo State, Justice Ijeoma Agugua said they came to pledge their loyalty to the governor to ensure harmonious working relationship between the two arms of government.
She commended the governor for making the judiciary come alive again in the discharge of their duties as people entrusted with dispensing justice for the common man, promising not to be found wanting.
